Car Audio Installations Redwood City - Review of the Alpine CDE HD149BT - Monney Car Audio Redwood City - 650-299-9991

The CDE series consists of Alpine's CD receiver models. A CD receiver is an in-dash receiver with a built-in CD player. As Alpine's flagship CDE model, the CDE-HD149BT comes with the features you would expect from a high-end car audio head unit.

This model is the only head unit we have reviewed with nine bands on which to adjust the sound output. Furthermore, Alpine created the TuneIt app to allow you to fine-tune your car audio system from your smartphone. However, if you don't want to use the custom equalizer settings, you can choose one of the ten preset curves. In addition to the fine-tuning, you can choose to expand your car stereo system by adding more speakers and an amplifier with the three RCA outputs.

The CDE-HD149BT's CD player is concealed behind the faceplate. To access the CD player, you have to press the Eject button and the faceplate will open, giving you access to the CD slot. The faceplate is also detachable as a theft deterrent, but it can be an alternative means of accessing the CD slot as well. The CDE-HD149BT also includes built-in Bluetooth with an external microphone. Using Bluetooth, you can stream music from other Bluetooth-enabled devices, and make and answer phone calls.

The Alpine CDE-HD149BT has both an auxiliary port and a USB port on the rear of the head unit. To access these ports, you have to run cables through the glove compartment or other pocket, so keep this in mind when you install the CDE-HD149BT. The auxiliary port requires an adapter cable in order to connect your music device. The built-in HD radio is a nice feature, and with an adapter, you can also play satellite radio. This head unit plays MP3, WMA and AAC files.
